Look And Feel Your Best With Chemical Peels

chemical peels

If your facial skin is beginning to show signs of aging, you may very well benefit from a chemical peel treatment. Chemical peels can help smooth the skin, eliminate the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and reduce the prominence of certain blemishes such as age spots, freckles, and injury scars. A chemical peel is a simple procedure that stimulates facial skin rejuvenation. The epidermal layer is removed, and the body responds by accelerating the production of healthy replacement tissue.

Our clients are generally thrilled with the results they experience. In fact, many of our clients schedule chemical peels once or twice a year to maintain a more youthful, healthy appearance. Below, we will outline the various peel treatments and describe the problems they correct.

Candidates for Chemical Peels

The most obvious sign of aging is brittle, dull skin that shows an increase in wrinkling, smile lines, and crow’s feet. Environmental factors and a loss of moisture in the skin are major culprits. Acne scars, injury scars, liver spots, and other blemishes become more apparent because the skin cells continue to reproduce themselves without improvement. If this sounds like you, a chemical peel treatment may be the ideal solution.

Types of Chemical Peels

The most common peel treatment targets the epidermis directly. Known as a superficial peel, this treatment is performed by applying a mild acid to the skin surface. After it sets for a few minutes, the acid is washed away with a special type of solvent. Over the next three or four days, the skin dries up and flakes away. At once, the body goes into overdrive producing a new epidermal layer. Once it forms, the skin surface is now smoother, and wrinkling is far less noticeable.

We sometimes recommend a medium-depth peel if the problem is subsurface blemishes. Moderate acne scarring and injury scarring can be improved via the application of a stronger acid solution. This peel treatment dries up the upper portion of the dermis. In other words, the solution penetrates more deeply. After a month or so, the appearance of the skin is greatly improved because the peel treatment triggered a more aggressive replacement of skin.

A deep-level peel helps to correct problems with skin tone and texture. Some of our clients opt for this procedure if their facial skin is suffering the effects of years of sun damage.

Consulting with the Client

We will suggest one of these peel treatments based on our observation of the facial skin and after listening to the concerns of the client. The consultation is very important because we can only recommend a specific treatment after seeing for ourselves what the problem areas look like. The moderate and deep peel treatments involve some pre-treatment preparation on the part of the client.

Whichever treatment we recommend, we can assure the client that the final results will be cause for excitement. The idea is to look as young as you feel, so if you think you deserve a more youthful, healthy appearance, contact us at Bentley Skincare & Wellness to schedule a consultation. You’ll be surprised at the before-and-after photos we show you, and you’ll see just how a chemical peel can help you look and feel your best.
